Rules and Terms

  • VIFF 2020 welcomes filmmakers/individual/group participants from all over the world above 18 years of age.
  • There is no entry fee for film submission.
  • Last date for submission of entries is 5 November, 2020. The deadline will not be extended.
  • In the time of COVID-19 pandemic, the festival will take place on-line and live streaming will be available via Zoom/YouTube/Facebook and other social media pages of the festival.
  • Please see Category section before submission. There are three categories – Competitive, Non-competitive, Invited.
  • All entries should be submitted through online application by registering on VIFF website. (click Submit)
  • Film could be in any language but subtitles in English are a must. Silent films can also be submitted.
  • Each entry should contain all the information. Incomplete entries will be rejected.
  • Film link with AVI/MOV/MPEG/MP4 are accepted. (No other format will be accepted)
  • The films should comply time constraint strictly.
  • The submitted material should be copyright free. All legal permissions related to sound, music, story, location or in any similar sort of situation etc should be taken well in advance. The festival may ask you for the permission related to this. Festival will not be responsible for any of the infringement or violation and all the responsibilities should be of directors/producers.
  • The films submitted should be minimum of HD (1920 * 1080) quality standard. The filmmaker should submit all the necessary technical details.
  • Festival authority may confirm submission of entry to the applicant by mail. However, such confirmation does not amount to acceptance that the film will be screened and ready to be accepted, but merely a confirmation of receipt of email.
  • Festival authority will not be responsible if the film is not screened due to a problem with the format or other technical issues.
  • More than one entry may be submitted. However, kindly note that each film will be considered as a new entry. Filmmaker has to submit new form each time he/she submits his/her film.
  • The decision of jury and festival team will be final. No communication related to this will be entertained.
  • All the film submitted should have trailer, poster and cast & cru details.
  • Entries once submitted for selection will be considered as final and no request for changes will be entertained after submission.
  • Submitted films/ trailers/posters etc shall be used by VIFF for the promotion of the festival on social or any other media.
  • Festival Authorities reserve the right to accept or reject any film, that is likely to offend sentiments or promote Rape, Child Abuse, Negative social activities, feelings or sensibilities of any caste, community, religion, racism or ill will in the society.
  • Films once submitted and selected for the final screening, will not be allowed to be withdrawn under any circumstances.
  • Festival Team has all rights to amend/change any of the rules & regulations related to the film festival at any point of time.
